On the Space Shuttle Hope, Eddie secured the diaper straps onto the large bag of dried food.

“How does this look?” he asked holding up the bag with a poorly placed diaper. His wife, Maggie, laughed on the other side of their video call.

“Keep practicing when you’re on Earth 2.0!” she chuckled.

Eddie paused. He put the bag down and stared at it.

“I’ll practice a million times,” Eddie gently said and looked up at the computer screen. “And I’ll be back before she’s potty trained.”

Maggie’s smile waned as she looked down. She rubbed her pregnant belly.

Note: I had entered in the NYC Midnight 100-Word Microfiction Challenge 2020 where you are given an assignment that consists of genre, action, and word to create a story of 100 words or less. My assignment was Sci-Fi, changing a diaper, and I had to use the word "million". The story above was my entry for the 1st round submitted on 5/12.
